< Crossroad to Host Author, 'Gang Pastor' Chris Hoke - Crossroads Ministerio Carcelario

hokeChris Hoke is an author, jail chaplain, coffee roaster and what he calls “gang pastor.” He will bring stories from his unique spiritual journey to Crossroad Bible Institute on April 15.

Join us as Chris reads selections from his book, Wanted: A Spiritual Pursuit Through Jail, Among Outlaws, and Across Borders. The reading will be followed by a Q&A session.

Chris is a jail chaplain and pastor to gangs and violent offenders in Washington’s Skagit Valley. He also cofounded Underground Coffee, a coffee roasting company which trains men leaving the criminal underground life to become artisan, small-batch coffee roasters.

Wanted follows Chris from the sunny suburbs of his youth to the darker side of society in the rainy Northwest, where he finds the direct spiritual experience he’s been seeking while volunteering as a night-shift chaplain at a men’s correctional facility. The jail becomes his portal to a mysterious world where gang members soon dub him their “pastor.” As he comes to terms with this uncomfortable title—and embraces the role of a shepherd of black sheep—his adventures truly begin.

Copies of Wanted will be for sale at the book reading. For more information about the event and to RSVP, click here.
