It was 2:30 a.m., and Michael was sitting on his bunk, staring at the bars in front of him.

Confused. Lost. Alone.

Alone with his guilt, Michael couldn’t stop his mind from racing, until it went blank.

Here’s how Michael describes what happened next:

“This strange feeling came over me, and I didn’t know what it was. All I know is I started crying like a baby, and I had no idea why.

It felt like I had a hole in my heart. It felt like I was hurting some other place, not only my heart. So I did some soul searching and after about an hour and a half, I found out my soul was crying out, and God was answering for me to come home.

So at about 4 o’clock in the morning, I cried out to God for forgiveness of all my sins and asked for His spirit to be placed in my heart to lead, guide and walk with me. Now since I’ve repented of my sins, I’ve been feeling whole, no holes in my heart and no holes in my spirit.”

This was about two months ago, and since then, Michael has enrolled with Crossroad Bible Institute, which is helping him grow in his relationship with God. Every day prisoners, like Michael, cry out to God to find hope and meaning for their lives. But they need help in navigating the challenges of living for God in prison. They need guidance on how to read and apply God’s Word in their lives.

Crossroad provides correspondence Bible courses for prisoners and equips the church on the outside to provide hope, encouragement and guidance to those on the inside. If you are interested in supporting Crossroad in this effort, click here.
