The recently released film Selma gives viewers a glimpse into the sacrifices people such as Martin Luther King Jr. undertook to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965. However, although American society has taken large strides forward since the Civil Rights Movement, the residue of Jim Crow laws lingers today in a new, subtle form, says CBI president Dr. Schuringa.
